What's So Great About The Mary Kay VoxBox?

*Product sent by Influenster complimentary for review purposes

A few weeks ago, I received the Mary Kay VoxBox from Influenster. I've never tried any Mary Kay products before, so I was really excited to get started on testing and reviewing. So without further adieu, let's get review-ing!

Lens flare was unintentional, haha

Starting with the products that I liked the most.

Lash Love Mascara (in I <3 Black):

Because of my short, straight, and sparse lashes, I've become quite a mascara junkie. Always on the lookout for that HG mascara to give my lashes just a little bit of that falsies look.
So, does this mascara gets the job done? Yes and No. This mascara gives my lashes the volume that I'm looking for, but not the length. But I love that it doesn't clump or flake. For it not being waterproof, I was surprised that it didn't smudge on me after a full day. It also holds the curls pretty well without weighing it down.

Gel Liner (in Jet Black):

I used to wear gel liner all the time, that is until I re-discovered liquid liners. I love the perfect cat eye you can achieve with liquid liners, but I've forgotten how natural gel liners can look. The reason why I turned away from gel liners is because-
1. They dry up fast
2. Raccoon-eye city!
It was almost expected to have my gel liner smudge on me about half way through the day. With this liner though, it doesn't smudge! Even when I wore this recently to Disneyland (the temperature high was 105 that day!), I didn't have the slightest sign of raccoon eyes. I really like this gel liner and have been wearing it almost every day. My only hope is that this won't dry up too fast.

Bronzing Powder:

At first glance, I didn't think much of this bronzer. Personally, I prefer a matte bronzer. When I saw there's shimmer to it, it kind of turned me off. But once I gave it a try, it grew on me. It looks very natural on my skin and gives me a nice summery glow. I've been using this instead of blush recently. The staying power of this bronzer is only so-so. I would have to reapply about half way through my day.

Translucent Powder:

I don't feel that this translucent powder is out of this world. Don't get me wrong, it's not bad, but I still prefer my MUFE one over the MK one. What I really enjoy about this translucent powder is actually its packaging. It may seem silly, but I love the little dial in the jar that opens and closes, so the product doesn't get all over the place. I'll probably put my MUFE powder in the MK container once I use it all up.
This translucent powder gets the job done, but it also doesn't make my skin look & feel as smooth as other translucent powder I've tried.

Nourishine Plus Lip Gloss in Mango Tango

I seriously love the color of this lip gloss. It's a mixture of orange and coral (which I'm totally obsessed with right now). It goes on a little sheer, which I'm fine with. The only downside is that it's very sticky... and I'm just not a fan of sticky lip glosses.

Mineral Cheek Color (in Shy Blush):

When I initially saw this, I thought this was going to be my favorite out of the bunch. After testing for a couple of weeks, I was kind of disappointed in this. The color of this blush is beautiful! It looks really natural on me. The texture is quite soft... with a slight tap of my blush brush and I could get enough products for my cheeks, so a little goes a long way. So what's not to like? The staying power. The color disappeared on my cheeks after 2 hours. 2 HOURS! I've tried wet & wild blushes that's stayed on for about 6 hours, so to have a (high end) product disappear on me after 2 hours of wear is very disappointing.

Cream Eye Color (in Apricot Twist):

I believe that cream eye shadow is something every make up fanatic should have in their arsenal. It's something I reach for when I'm running late. The golden color is very pretty, but also very sheer. You can barely see it on my lids when I wear it. The plus side is that it doesn't crease and stays put for quite a while (I got about 7 hours of wear).

So for my final thought of the Mary Kay VoxBox... Did it blow me away? Not really, but some of the products really impressed me. Especially since I've never tried any Mary Kay products before. While I don't think I'll be purchasing any of the products in the VoxBox (okay, I might get the gel liner...), I'm thankful that I got the opportunity to try it out and see what Mary Kay is all about. I love that we received full size products to test, and I still plan on using all the products in my make-up routine.
